Google analytics already provides some great data on their “Reports” page that is good for quick data about really anything, however we are going to take a look at the “Explore” tab in Google analytics. It looks like this!

We are going to use Seattle RainWise for this example but lets go over some basic definitions on what all this means.
Dimension = Describes something about your data.
Metric = Metric is a number that tells you how much of something happened.
Value = Value is a specific piece of data that appears for a dimension or metric.
Rows

Lets say we wanted to know the screen resolutions of our users, device brand and device category. We would first need to add all of our dimensions and then add it to the rows on the “settings” tab, like this below.

Then add some metrics to get data of what we are looking for, in this case we add new users and total users to the “value” tab

BOOM we got data.

Dimension = Screen resolution, device brand and device category
Metric = Users
Value = 1920×1080 341 people have that screen size

This was a really bare bones example, there’s a lot to play around with here, we can organize our data better, we can use rows and columns to make it more readable and other cases I haven’t yet fully explored.
