Welcome to our boilerplate

You are now viewing our WordPress boilerplate using a baseline theme (Skookum) developed in-house by EnviroIssues. Skookum means “large, powerful, impressive” and is derived from Chinook Jargon, a pidgin spoken primarily during the 1800s in the Pacific Northwest that still has hundreds of speakers today.

The intention of Skookum is to create a standard starting point to build any type or size of website. This starting point already passes most accessibility and performance best practices, and is fully responsive for all devices. It is also bundled with SEO tools which helps flag potential issues and can generate meta data used for search and social sharing functionality.

Here are some sites we have built using Skookum:

Skookum comes prepackaged with a number of custom-built components we often use on web projects which can be found in the components section of this website.

This theme also supports custom functionality for posts, custom post types and filtering of posts via taxonomies and categories which can be demoed on our posts feed.

The dev team continues to fine-tune Skookum adding more components, functionality, and updates scaling with standard WordPress core development. We are always looking to up our game so if you have any ideas for how to improve our boilerplate, a need for new components, questions regarding scope, implementation, or maybe just a dad joke, we are ready to take your call!
